Note (12 October 2026): from 1:54, this video mentions Binance’s Welcome Rewards right after code A6969. Welcome Rewards are Binance’s own new-user program of trading fee rebate vouchers, not cash (how Welcome Rewards work). Some countries, including the US and UK, are excluded. Signing up without a code gives the same eligibility. A6969 adds no bonus or discount, and it does nothing inside Binance Wallet.
What is Binance Wallet?
Binance Wallet is a self-custody crypto wallet built into the Binance app. Self-custody means you hold the private keys, the secret codes that control your coins. Binance says it has no access to the funds in this wallet (Binance accounts and wallets FAQ, May 2026, checked 12 October 2026).
It’s built for on-chain use, meaning transfers recorded directly on a blockchain, such as token swaps and DeFi. DeFi, or decentralized finance, means apps that run on blockchains instead of through a company. Its homepage also offers meme tokens, tokenized stocks, prediction markets and perpetual contracts (checked 12 October 2026). Perpetual contracts are futures: bets on a price moving up or down, often with borrowed money (leverage). All of these are high-risk and beyond this beginner guide.
Many wallets give you a seed phrase: 12 to 24 words that restore your keys. The default Binance Wallet, a Keyless Wallet, has none. It uses MPC (multi-party computation) to split access into three key-shares, kept in different places. Two shares open the wallet, and a recovery password only you know protects the backup (keyless wallet FAQ, updated February 2026). Binance says it holds just one share, so it can’t open the wallet without you (Binance blog, February 2025).
Binance Wallet vs exchange accounts: custodial and self-custody
Your exchange accounts are custodial, which means Binance holds the keys for you. Binance Wallet is self-custody. Binance runs the two as separate systems, so wallet balances don’t show in your exchange balances (Binance accounts and wallets FAQ, May 2026).
| Exchange accounts (Spot, Funding, Earn and others) | Binance Wallet | |
|---|---|---|
| Who holds the keys | Binance, for you | You |
| Used for | Buying, trading, deposits, withdrawals and P2P | On-chain swaps and DeFi apps |
| Main fees | Spot trade fee of 0.100%, or 0.075% paid in BNB | Swap service fee of 0% or 0.5% in the app, plus network fees |
| If you lose your phone | Binance can help you reset your 2FA | Only your own backup restores it |
| KYC needed | Yes, to trade and deposit | Yes, to create it in the app |
KYC is Binance’s identity check, and 2FA (two-factor authentication) is the extra login code from your phone. Spot means buying and selling coins outright at the current price. P2P means trading crypto directly with another user, and BNB is Binance’s own coin. Fees come from Binance’s fee schedule and wallet service fee FAQ, both checked 12 October 2026.
Which should you use? The exchange accounts, to buy, sell and hold coins on Binance. Choose Binance Wallet only for on-chain apps, when you’re ready to guard the backup yourself.
How do you create a Binance Wallet in the Binance app?
You create it from the Wallet tab of the official Binance app, then back it up straight away (setup guide, updated July 2026).
- Install the official app. Use Google Play, the Apple App Store or binance.com, as Binance advises (Binance security blog, February 2025).
- Log in to a verified account. You must pass KYC first.
- Open the Wallet tab. Tap Home, then Wallet at the top of the screen.
- Tap Create Wallet. This makes a Keyless Wallet. Import Wallet is only for a wallet you already own, using its seed phrase or private key.
- Back up the wallet. Choose Quick Backup, iCloud or Google Drive, or a QR code (backup guide, checked 12 October 2026). Cloud and QR backups need a recovery password. Quick Backup has none: a third-party provider stores your encrypted key-share instead, so keep access to your Binance account.
- Check the backup. Under Settings, then Wallet Management, look for the “Backed Up” tag.
What happens if you lose your phone or recovery password?
Binance can help you back into an exchange account, but Binance Wallet only comes back from your own backup.
| What you lost | Exchange accounts | Binance Wallet |
|---|---|---|
| Your phone, but you made a backup | Log in on the new phone; reset 2FA if your codes were on the old one | Tap Restore Wallet and use your backup method |
| Your phone and your recovery password | The same 2FA reset | Lost for good, unless you used Quick Backup |
| Only the recovery password | Not affected | Back up again at once, while you can still open the wallet |
| Your private keys, after using Convert to Private Key Wallets | Not affected | Lost for good: converted wallets have no recovery feature (conversion guide) |
To restore the wallet, log in to the Binance app on the new phone and tap Assets, Wallet, then Restore Wallet. Cloud and QR backups ask for the recovery password. Quick Backup asks for security checks plus a liveness check, a face scan matched to your KYC (restore guide, April 2025). You can’t use the wallet on two devices at the same time (Binance Wallet FAQ, December 2025).
For the exchange account, Binance has a reset process if you lose your 2FA device. After a reset, withdrawals, P2P selling and internal transfers stay blocked for up to 48 hours (2FA reset guide, March 2026).
Moving crypto between Binance Wallet and your exchange account
You move coins both ways with the Receive and Send buttons. Each move is an on-chain transfer with a network fee (send and receive guide, October 2025).
From your exchange account to Binance Wallet:
- In Binance Wallet, tap Receive, then Withdraw from Binance Exchange.
- Pick the token and network, enter the amount, and choose Spot or Funding as the source.
- Check the fee, address and network, then confirm. A confirmed transfer can’t be canceled.
If you turned on the withdrawal whitelist (a list of approved addresses), Binance first asks you to add your wallet address to it.
From Binance Wallet to your exchange account:
- Tap Send on the Assets page and pick the token and network.
- Choose Binance Deposit Address, enter the amount, check the gas fee and confirm.
The gas fee, or network fee, goes to the blockchain, not to Binance (network fee guide, updated 7 October 2026). You pay it in the chain’s own coin, such as BNB on BNB Smart Chain or TRX on TRON. A failed transaction still costs gas.
Where do you find your Binance wallet address?
On the exchange, you tap Deposit. In Binance Wallet, you tap Receive. Each address works on one network only.
- Exchange account: choose Deposit Crypto, then the coin and network. Copy the address, plus the memo if one is shown (deposit guide, checked 12 October 2026).
- Binance Wallet: choose Receive Token via Address, then the token and network, to see the QR code and address.
Binance’s own deposit guide calls the exchange account “your Binance Wallet”, so check which one someone means.
Can you withdraw money from Binance Wallet?
Yes, you can send your crypto out, because the wallet is yours. To turn it into local money, first send the coins to your exchange account with the Binance Deposit Address steps above.
Cash-out tools such as P2P sit in the exchange’s Spot and Funding accounts (Binance accounts and wallets FAQ, May 2026). For a first withdrawal to a new address, Binance suggests a small test amount (withdrawal guide, updated September 2026).
Binance Wallet fees: swaps and network fees
Binance Wallet adds a service fee to some swaps, based on three token groups (service fee FAQ, updated June 2026, checked 12 October 2026). Group 1 is selected stablecoins, major chains’ native coins and some tokenized securities. Group 2 is Binance Alpha tokens, newer tokens that Binance warns can swing wildly in price. “Others” is everything else.
| Swap in the Binance Wallet app | Service fee |
|---|---|
| Two tokens from the same group, or Group 1 with Group 2 | 0% |
| Group 1 or Group 2 with Others | 0.5% |
On the web version, a swap between Group 1 and Group 2 costs 0.01%.
Is Binance Wallet safe? Seed phrases, phishing and fake apps
It can be, if you guard the backup and keys yourself. Binance Wallet shows a warning if the address you enter is flagged as high-risk for scams (send and receive guide, October 2025). If you go ahead anyway, the coins may be lost for good. Still, Binance says you alone are responsible for the assets (Binance Wallet FAQ, December 2025).
- Never share your recovery password, seed phrase or keys. Binance never asks for private keys or sends seed phrases (Binance security blog, February 2025). A Keyless Wallet has no seed phrase at all.
- Ignore “move your funds to a safe wallet” messages. Binance never asks you to move funds for security reasons. Scammers posing as staff send a seed phrase for a “secure wallet”, then drain it.
- Use only official apps and links. Install only from Google Play, the App Store or binance.com, and type web addresses yourself. Check any unknown contact with Binance Verify.
- Read every approval request. A dApp is an app that runs on a blockchain. An approval can let a dApp’s smart contract (a program on the blockchain) move your tokens later, and Binance can’t reverse those transactions. Binance’s risk warning (September 2025) flags airdrop phishing, broad approvals, clipboard malware and fake tokens. Never sign a request you don’t understand, and revoke approvals you no longer use.
- Know who stands behind it. Binance Barbados Limited provides the wallet services, and no regulator supervises them. Binance can’t refund losses in third-party dApps.
Does an exchange referral code like A6969 work in Binance Wallet?
No. An exchange referral code, such as our A6969, only works in the Referral ID field when you open a Binance exchange account. Binance Wallet uses its own, separate referral codes.
A6969 is a Referral Pro code that shares 0% of its commission with you, so it adds no bonus, rebate or discount. Our Binance referral code guide has the sign-up rules.
Binance Wallet has its own referral program, launched on 1 September 2025 (Binance announcement, updated March 2026, checked 12 October 2026). In that separate program, an invited friend gets 10% of eligible wallet trading fees back. Binance credits it the next day, and you claim it on the wallet’s Referral page. Trades in zero-fee tokens don’t count, and the program may not be open in every region. Each user can bind only one wallet referral code, and it can’t be changed. A6969 is not one, and this guide doesn’t offer one.
If you don’t have a Binance account yet, our sign-up link fills in A6969 and supports this site at no cost to you.
Binance Wallet extension and web version
You can use Binance Wallet on a computer, but create and back up the Keyless Wallet in the app first (extension guide, December 2025).
- Install: add the extension to Chrome or Brave from the Chrome Web Store link in Binance’s guide.
- Log in: scan its QR code with the Binance app, and check that the pairing code matches on both screens.
- Password: Binance can’t recover the extension password, so store it safely.
The web version, web3.binance.com, uses your Binance account login. Check the address bar before you connect anything.
What to do next
- Install the Binance app from Google Play, the App Store or binance.com, finish identity verification, then tap Home and switch to the Wallet tab.
- Tap Create Wallet, back it up straight away and store the recovery password offline. Check for the “Backed Up” tag under Wallet Management.
- Move a small test amount from your exchange account to the wallet on the right network, and keep a little of that chain’s coin for gas.
Frequently asked questions
What is Binance Wallet?
Binance Wallet is the self-custody crypto wallet inside the Binance app, also called Binance Web3 Wallet. You hold the keys, and Binance has no access to the funds. It is used for on-chain swaps, DeFi apps and Binance Alpha, and it is separate from your Spot and Funding accounts.
Is Binance Wallet the same as my Binance account?
No. Your exchange accounts, such as Spot and Funding, are custodial: Binance holds the keys for you. Binance Wallet is self-custody and runs as a separate system. Coins in one don’t show in the other until you transfer them, and each transfer costs a network fee.
Can Binance recover my Binance Wallet if I lose my phone?
Only if you backed it up. Log in on the new phone, tap Restore Wallet and use your cloud, QR or Quick Backup method. If you forget the recovery password and also lose the phone or delete the app, Binance can’t restore the wallet.
Does Binance Wallet have a seed phrase?
No, not the default Keyless Wallet. It splits access into three key-shares and protects the backup with a recovery password. Wallets you import keep their own seed phrase or private key. Binance says it never asks for your seed phrase or private keys, so never share them or the recovery password.
Can I withdraw money from Binance Wallet?
Yes. You can send your crypto to any address, including your Binance exchange account, after paying the network fee. To get local money, move the coins to your exchange account first and use the cash-out options offered in your country there. Always pick the same network on both sides.
Do I need KYC to use Binance Wallet?
Yes, to create it in the app. Binance says you must be a verified Binance user to set up a Binance Wallet. The browser extension can import an outside seed phrase or private key wallet without a Binance account.
Does an exchange referral code like A6969 work in Binance Wallet?
No. A6969 is a Binance exchange code for the Referral ID field at sign-up. It does nothing inside Binance Wallet and adds no bonus, rebate or discount. Binance Wallet uses its own, separate referral codes, and an invitee can bind only one.
